Once you arrive, you’ll find soft and sandy shores, clean water, and it’s perfect for swimming, jet ski rentals, and other water sports for those looking for excitement.
Local vendors selling fresh coconuts and delicious seafood make it even better. You can get really nice handmade pants and short sets that you can only find in Lagos, Nigeria. Whether you want to chill on the beach, go swimming, or even do some water activities, Tarkwa Bay Beach is the perfect place to spend the day.
4. Lighthouse Beach: Best Hidden Beach in Lagos
If you want a more secluded and non-touristy beach that really a lot of people don’t even know about, Lighthouse Beach is probably for you. This is one of the cleanest beaches in Lagos, and most travelers don’t even know about it.

One of my personal favorite things to do at Lighthouse Beach was really jumping on some ATVs and just driving up and down all across the beach.
It gave such an amazing opportunity to just really bask in the amazing views while having that exhilarating fun. If you want a beach experience that feels like an escape from the city, Lighthouse Beach is a perfect choice.

This is hands down one of the most popular attractions here in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a series of high bridges that take you through the treetops, offering stunning aerial views of the forest below.
You’ll get to experience wildlife like monkeys, exotic birds, and even crocodiles. There’s a 95-year-old tortoise, which is one of the oldest in Nigeria, and a massive outdoor chess board where you can play a life-size game. This is one of the best places in Lagos to enjoy nature, adventure, and a little bit of wildlife all in one.

Makoko is easily one of the most interesting and unique places in Lagos. It’s a floating village where thousands of people live in houses built on wooden stilts above the water. One of the best ways to experience Makoko is by taking a guided tour. As you glide through the water, you’ll see locals paddling canoes, children playing, and fishermen going about their daily work.

This is literally one of the biggest markets here in Lagos, Nigeria. This market is a little hectic, but it’s an experience that you don’t want to miss.
This is the largest open-air market in Nigeria, covering multiple streets in Lagos Island and offering a wild, energetic shopping experience like no other.
Here you can find everything from fabrics, jewelry, and designer knockoffs to electronics, household goods, and souvenirs. It’s the perfect place to shop for unique Nigerian fashion or grab a few authentic West African fabrics to take home.
Balogun Market is crowded, loud, and full of life. Sellers will be calling you to check out their goods. Bargaining is a must, and if you’re good at negotiating, this is where you want to use those negotiating skills.
This is a place that you really want to be with a local because if they know that you’re not from there, they’ll smell blood in the water.
The favorite thing to do at this market is to try out the fresh sugar cane. It’s absolutely amazing. Even if you’re not buying anything or looking to buy anything, visit this market because you get the opportunity to experience the energy and culture of Lagos.
